Artist's Comments

So here is the backside of the Brochure, which acts as a poster. Since the audience will be receiving this in the brochure format, they're more likely to look through the brochure and accept it as just a brochure. The arrows in the brochure (which you may or may not have noticed) are meant to direct the viewer to look on the opposite side of the paper. And viola, they get a free poster out of it.

If you looked at the Invite, you'll notice venetian wallpaper coupled with a modern chair. And here you see more modern wallpaper coupled with a somewhat venetian chair. It is both a coupling of time periods through texture, and an indication of architecture through familiar home elements.

The angle is meant to be a bit confusing. It's the same angle as the brochure, except flipped, in a way. This makes the angle reference familiar but unique, and also turns the slash in "twenty/20" into a straight line.

so do you shoot your photos or a stock source ?
:iconliquisoft:
I had a lot of trouble finding the chair I needed IRL, so this one ended up being stock. I usually try to take my own photos, though.

I really appreciate the care you put into your typography. It's nice to see someone else who cares so much about letterforms. :)

nice try with turning the / into a straight line, but its not quite straight, and it irritates me hehe.

That chair really sets it off, perfect find.

very interesting idea, i liked much the idea of having the chair, this particular kind of chairs, that reminds me to a french movie i saw "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulin".
I noticed that you are focusing on this special dispositions of elements on almost all your works, oblique text, you don't seem to appreciate the "horizontal" way of things :D
Anyway, that's a very interesting work ! I agree with what was said before.
