This is the first part of my identity system for Windows on our Waters, a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the ocean. They go to schools and educate children about the water cycle and how poluting the ocean comes back as remnants in the products we use every day (toothpaste, bottled water, etc). They are headquartered in Santa Monica, California.
Unlike the CCN logo, this is a school project. I am, however, seeing about getting the company to actually use it and the rest of the work I do. For this school project, we were asked to redesign the identity of one of a small selection of companies, one of which happened to be Windows on our Waters.
The concept behind this design is implying the eye as a "window to the soul," and it also has references to education as well as "looking forward" aka progress. The stylized lines imply water, and the blue color reinforces this. I've also included a sparkle, which works both as a reference of cleanliness and as a reference of children (the sparkle in a child's eye, is what I've been told).
The logo and identity are meant to be professional without looking too bold. I should also mention that the blue is a coated color, and is more vibrant in print than on web.
so did they ever use it? Because this is sweet. I love your concept has everything to represent the organization as it's identity. It's also very professional and corporate. Great work.
I'm not crazy about the back, like with the stars, etc. I just don't get ocean out of it... or actually a body of water at all. I understand the deeper meanings and transcendants and everything... I don't know. It just bugs me. As far as everything else, so many others have commented already. It really is nice work.
You know, I'm pretty damn jealous. This is exactly the kind of stuff that I'd love to produce professionally, as you do (Such as your CCN work). Your work is of a very high standard. I'd love to know you in person, share ideas!
i've read the past comments so i won't repeat stuff.
the thing about the DOT on the I and the T being 'let loose' inside the upper word though trouble me...
my idea would be to go without the dot, but to lower the D line so that it stays the same size as the other letters, and doing the same with the letter T in the bottom word.
this would give it 'slicknes' and a more sacy-modern trend - and as there is no other interference within the words themselves and the ON OUR is not tied to the other words in no way as well this would bring consistency to the typeface desin. so... my suggestion... by erase the upper part of the D (in winDows) and lowerring the T in (waTers) it would be much more consistent typeface.
